The dust jacket has a small tear at the top of the spine, but is in otherwise very good condition. A beautiful and comprehensive book. $208.00
2. Brooks, Juanita. John Doyle Lee: Zealot, Pioneer Builder, Scapegoat. Glendale, California: The Arthur H. Clark Company, 1961. 404 pages. This is the true first edition, published in 1961 and bound in light blue cloth boards. The edges and corners show some wear and there is darkening to the blue spine and at the board edges, as is common with this book because of the color of the boards. The pages are clean and tightly bound. This first edition was printed in a run of 209 copies. These were never for sale at bookstores, but were given to family and friends. This copy came from the estate of a prominent husband and wife in St. George, Utah. Their ownership inscription is dated "St. George, Utah 1962". The first edition has the final three paragraphs deleted from page 376. In the original manuscript the author included the historical fact that John D. Lee's membership blessings had been restored after his execution. These three paragraphs were included in the 1962 edition and subsequent editions of this book. A true rarity. $750.00

I've long considered this book to be the most difficult Cache Valley town history to locate. $200.00

Complete set of two volumes. Rebound in brown buckram. There is wear and rubbing to the spine edges and corners of the rebinding. Some light foxing to some of the pages. Some of the illustrated plates have abstaining at the edges, which looks to have been the condition they were in when the book was bound. This was a landmark publication of the time, chronicling the establishment and development of the Salt Lake Valley and with a detailed sociological and historical look at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. $250.00

Jeffs, 1861. 1861 first edition in English after the French edition. Complete set of two volumes. Both volumes have been re-cased, with the original spine laid over. There is wear and rubbing to the spine edges and corners, with the corners worn through. Volume 1 has discolored and faded spots on the front cover and the front cover is bowed outward a bit. The text blocks on both volumes are tight and the pages are clean and complete. The plates and map are present and in very good condition. A significant imprint in Mormon history. $300.00

The top and bottom of the front and back covers have small tape residue remnants from the dust jacket being lightly taped to the boards, but this is not an ex-library copy, just something the former owner did. The tape was easily removed, but there is a slight residue stain. The dust jacket has chips to the edges of the panels and at the top of the spine. There are also a few rubbed spots to the jacket, but overall it is presentable. The foldout map is present in the back pocket inside the back cover. $135.00
